Hi Renée,
It was nice talking to you today. I've been making good progress with my recovery since our three sessions. A hang gliding accident shattered my leg, broke my arm in two places, dislocated my shoulder and landed me in bed for over a year. By that time my body was completely atrophied although I was fortunate in many ways. I could have suffered more severe injuries. My leg could have been amputated. My leg would have been amputated if the ambulance took me to another hospital or the best doctor in the area had not been available. It was that close. A series of surgeries and a long recovery period followed. Each day was a hard struggle and sometimes I seemed to loose ground. My injured leg refused to heal for a long time. The doctors wanted to do more surgeries, but I held out hoping the original hardware would allow the bones to heal. The use of an ultra sonic bone healing device that the doctors were openly skeptical of, was the final key to healing the remaining fractures. Finally the day came more than a year after the accident to remove the hardware from my leg. It was a painful procedure done without the benefit of any anesthesia or pain medicine. My leg would not bend more than 90 degrees after the doctors removed the external fixation (metal rods drilled through my leg, metal rods drilled into the bones which were attached to a halo and external framework of clamps and rods). I struggled for months to become partially weight bearing and get out of the wheel chair. It took more months of hard work to give up the crutches and limp for short distances. I couldn't stand or walk very far. I spent two months trying to get the pedal on an exercise bike to go all the way around in a circle at the physical therapy clinic.
After my second session with you, Renee, I rode a real bike for the first time in years. The following week after our third session I hiked to the top of a waterfall Multnomah Falls , Oregon ), a two mile round trip. Sure, I work hard at physical therapy, but the results I'm getting are more than just that.
Another unexpected benefit was your suggestion to do something I've always wanted to do but lacked the motivation to do. That is to write about my experiences. People have told me I should write a book, but I never thought it was worth doing. I always believed that I had nothing special to offer. After our session I realized that it is worth doing. Perhaps my experiences could be entertaining and help others. Even if I inspire or help just one person in a small way it's worth doing. Our healing sessions got the wheels turning in my head. I've finally broken free of a self-imposed lethargy that prevented me from pursuing writing. Who knows, this may lead to a new career. After 27 years repairing avionics equipment (electronic instrumentation for commercial aircraft), perhaps it's time for a change of scene. This could be the door to a new path. I feel that it is! I no longer feel tied down to a dead end job.
Thanks Renee! You have really helped me in so many ways! I've always been openly skeptical of healers and priests. You truly do have a gift for helping others! Things happen for a reason!
I included pictures from last weekend of Susan and I and Multnomah Falls in Oregon.
